More info

Madagascar Rosewood (dalbergia baronii) is true rosewood and a look-alike for Brazilian Rosewood, used as a substitute for this CITES-protected and commercial no more available species. Works and feels identically, sanding dust even smells similiar to the vanilla-cinnamon smell of BRW´s. ;-)

These properties make Madagascar RW fretboards first choice for your 1959 Les Paul replica build if you want to get closest possible in look and feel to Brazilian Rosewood without using this CITES protected wood.

Mad RW´s look has a wide range, from light chocolate color with an orange touch to dark as African Blackwood the wood covers a wide spread. We select uniform dark ones for best match to vintage Les Paul fingerboards as well as nicely striped "Rio-style" for those who prefer a more colorful fretboard.

All our Madagascar RW fretboard blanks are steel-sting sized and fit also classical guitars and all regular electric guitars.

Wood dates back to 2006, fully airdried and ready to use (after acclimatisation in your workshop).

Check the radio buttons in upper right for the variants. Two pics/board showing both sides.

---

Hint: even the lighter colored boards you can, as all other rosewood species incl. Madagascar, "tune down" to a BRW look by using our dark rosewood oil-stain for fretboards.
