Celluloid fretboard binding set

Vintage Les Paul´s were equipped with a fretboard binding of CELLULOID.

This material is no longer produced in the US or Europe, a company in China took even over the machinery park for celluloid production from Gibson´s former Italian supplier of celluloid in the 50´s (Mazzucchelli) in 2007.

We were lucky to have found a limited stock of celluloid binding that we occasionally offer here.

Being 1,5mm wide x 6mm high it is oversized in all dimensions, but of right "off-white" (milk-white) color, so you have to sand this down a bit in your workshop to vintage correct dimension of 0.9 - 1.0 mm.

Set contains 3 strips: 2 strips (over)sized in length for the sides plus 1 end strip.

Don´t use super glue for gluing celluloid binding, most plastic glues will not work, too. Best is to use binding cement that was designed to work with celluloid like our Ruderer L530 binding glue you can get here.

Depending on your monitor the binding strips may look a bit blueish, the binding is in real milk-white without any blueish hue.
